I did something similar a couple of years ago. The jacket once belonged to a smoker who had a very casual relationship with bathing, I think, and it stunk. I called Barbour and asked for some treatment advice and they suggested a garden hose and airing it out. I hung it on the clothes line and hosed it down nearly daily for a week. I left it out day and night in the rain and elements but it worked and smelled fresh and clean. After a re-waxing treatment it was as good as new.
